Mainframe Software Engineer II (COBOL)

Location: Columbus, Georgia office only; candidates must currently live locally in the area. Hybrid work model with up to 3 days in the office.

What you will do

• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle using Agile Scrum methodology.
• Design, develop, modify, debug, test, implement, and maintain moderately complex mainframe applications.
• Create program specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, flow diagrams, application documentation, and implementation plans.
• Analyze architectures, designs, non-functional requirements, standards, and validation strategies.
• Advise on testing, corrective measures, code deficiencies, application controls, and data accuracy.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, product owners, Scrum Masters, test analysts, clients, vendors, and leadership.

Requirements

• Must currently live locally in the Columbus, Georgia area and work from the Columbus office under a hybrid model.
• Must be legally authorized to work full time in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in coding, design, development, and data analysis.
• Required: COBOL, IMS, and DB2.
• Experience with mainframe, CICS, File Manager, Agile/Scrum, software testing, documentation, and collaboration across technical and business teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ACE, Collections, Standard Batch, Credit Bureau Reporting, or Account Purge processes.
• Experience with Jira.
