Senior Network Engineer

Location: Primarily remote, but candidates must be located in the Seattle, WA Metro Area or Greater Puget Sound, WA, United States. Periodic travel to a Seattle data center and customer sites is required. Workplace type: Hybrid.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot highly available IP/BGP telecommunications networks.
• Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and customer telecommunications services including DIA, DWDM, and Metro Ethernet.
• Manage Zero Trust and SASE security infrastructure, network monitoring, virtual machines, hypervisors, and Linux and Windows servers.
• Develop automation for network provisioning, configuration, monitoring, validation, and operational tasks.
• Provide technical consulting, customer solutions, escalation support, and limited sales engineering assistance.
• Maintain technical documentation, mentor team members, perform data center work, and participate in the engineering on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or in a comparable networking role.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, the OSI model, WANs, LANs, firewalls, DNS, VLANs, IP addressing, and VPNs.
• Experience with on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle OCI.
• Deep understanding of Metro Ethernet services and terminology, including EPL, EVPL, UNIs, NNIs, and IEEE 802.1ad.
• Experience with network operating systems, virtualization, containers, Linux and UNIX administration, monitoring, and logging tools.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and availability for required Seattle-area data center and customer-site travel.

Nice to have

• Telecommunications industry experience.
• Experience with Arista EOS, Cisco IOS XR, Ciena SAOS, Fortinet FortiOS, and Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS.
• Knowledge of Python, Bash, Ansible, or other scripting and automation tools.
