Manufacturing Director (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year, with potential stock options and benefits for full-time hires.

What you will do

• Hire, manage, mentor, and grow manufacturing engineers, technicians, and leaders supporting spacecraft and vehicle hardware builds.
• Support manufacturing across mechanical assembly, composites, mechanisms, welding, tubes, tanks, harnessing, thrust chambers, turbopumps, and vehicle integration.
• Mature programs by defining KPIs, training requirements, production targets, and hardware reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with design engineering and quality teams on manufacturability, DFM compliance, and long-term reliability.
• Expand shop-floor capabilities and capacity while making make-versus-buy decisions with supply chain.
• Develop leadership structures, succession plans, and technical standards across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years leading high-performing teams.
• Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across functions.
• Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. Person or be eligible to obtain an applicable export license.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of hands-on engineering experience in aerospace.
• 8+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience with spacecraft, satellites, rockets, or related hardware.
• Experience hiring, training, and managing engineering teams.
• Experience with new product introduction and establishing manufacturing processes from scratch.
