Systems Engineer (Physical AI)

Location: Must be based in San Francisco, CA (4 days/week in-office)

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 + Equity

hirify.global is a startup building Daft, an open-source distributed data engine purpose-built for multimodal AI, used by major tech companies and research labs to accelerate Physical AI development.

What you will do

• Contribute to the development of the Daft query engine, dataloading, storage, and indexing layers.
• Profile, benchmark, and optimize systems handling petabytes of customer video on GPU clusters.
• Write clean, maintainable Python and Rust code.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on core systems architecture.
• Participate in customer calls with researchers to identify and fix bottlenecks in training loops.

Requirements

• Recent graduate or within ~1 year of graduation.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, Rust, C++, or Go.
• Demonstrated passion for systems, distributed systems, databases, or data infrastructure through side projects or open-source contributions.
• Curiosity and persistence in solving complex technical problems.
• Must be willing to work in-person 4 days/week in the San Francisco office.

Nice to have

• Internship experience in systems-heavy teams (databases, ML infrastructure, GPU/HPC, storage).
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Background in computer architecture, OS, compilers, or distributed systems.
