Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Salary: $180K–$240K base salary per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead backend initiatives for hirify.global and Comfy Cloud, supporting millions of AI workflows and users.
• Build reliable distributed systems, scalable data models, and backend services for rapid product growth.
• Deploy community-built hirify.global custom nodes securely and maintainably.
• Design scheduling algorithms for heterogeneous GPU workflows, optimizing latency and throughput.
• Ship user-facing features quickly with a cross-functional team and contribute to technical direction.
• Make code changes across the open-source hirify.global project and Comfy Cloud.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience scaling large systems.
• Experience building a strong product with attention to user experience and engineering quality.
• Ability to take ownership, invent novel solutions, learn quickly, and ship high-quality code.
• Backend experience; the core stack includes Python, Go, Kubernetes, and Postgres.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure experience with Kubernetes and Helm.
