TL;DR

Backend Engineer (AI): Building and maintaining high-load backend infrastructure for AI agents with an accent on API design, distributed systems, and database performance. Focus on ensuring reliability and scalability for millions of daily requests while maintaining developer-friendly API ergonomics.

Location: Must be based in San Francisco or Palo Alto (On-site)

Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

Build and maintain backend infrastructure handling millions of custom requests daily.
Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability as the platform grows.
Act as a steward of the API to ensure it is developer-friendly and easy to integrate.
Collaborate in a flat, talent-dense organization to solve complex technical problems.

Requirements

Deep intuition for distributed systems and database architecture.
Experience designing maintainable code and robust APIs.
Ability to reason about trade-offs between speed, scalability, and developer ergonomics.
Must be able to work fully in-person in San Francisco or Palo Alto.
