Critical Environments Operator (Level 1-4)

Location: Carrollton, Texas, United States; onsite in a 24/7/365 data center environment

What you will do

• Monitor and operate data center electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R systems to maintain uptime and reliability.
• Respond to building system alarms, protect critical loads, preserve equipment, and perform root cause analysis.
• Execute preventive maintenance work orders and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and MMRs.
• Use a CMMS to track work orders, labor hours, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors while enforcing Lockout/Tagout and other safety protocols.
• Perform operational modifications and critical switching; at senior levels, mentor junior operators, lead switching events, and support capacity planning and reporting.

Requirements

• Strong commitment to safety, clear communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Personal computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
• Availability for flexible 24/7/365 shift work, on-call rotation, extended hours, and after-hours emergency response.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform considerable walking, bending, and standing.
• Experience requirements vary by level: no prior data center experience for Level I; 3–5 years for Level II; 5–7 years for Level III; and 7+ years for Level IV. Senior levels require progressively stronger electrical, mechanical, or HVAC/R expertise.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CMMS and work order processes.
• Journeyman-level electrical, mechanical, or HVAC/R skills.
• Active HVAC certification or Journeyman/Master Electrician license.
• Experience leading operational activities, managing vendor relationships, or developing team members.
