Advanced Mechanical Engineer – System Design & Product Definition - 903 (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in the posting. Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.

Salary: $116,000–$145,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own system-level mechanical design for quantum computers and the physical environments where they are installed.
• Develop equipment layouts, structural interfaces, enclosures, service access, room-level space plans, cable routing, and utility distribution.
• Define and allocate mechanical requirements across optical, electrical, thermal, vacuum, fluid, and facility subsystems.
• Create and maintain top-level CAD assemblies, drawings, interface definitions, BOMs, and system product structures.
• Support prototype and first-article builds, capture as-built configurations, and manage formal engineering changes and releases.
• Resolve packaging, access, interface, and configuration conflicts across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of related work experience.
• U.S. Person status is required, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residency or green card status, asylum, or refugee status.
• On-site work in Broomfield, Colorado, is required.
• Experience with system-level mechanical design, product structures, CAD assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and configuration control.
• Experience integrating complex hardware systems and producing documentation that supports building, installation, operation, maintenance, and future development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Onshape for large system assemblies and production documentation.
• Experience with Arena or another PLM system for product structures, BOMs, revisions, and engineering changes.
• Experience designing scientific instruments, semiconductor equipment, aerospace systems, medical devices, industrial automation equipment, or other low-volume, high-complexity products.
• Experience planning laboratories, equipment rooms, customer installations, 21-inch racks, equipment cabinets, sheet-metal enclosures, and service-access systems.
• Experience creating interface control drawings, interconnect diagrams, installation drawings, or connection schematics.
