Backend Software Engineer (Payments & Partnerships)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid with 3 days in the office

US annual base salary: $163,000–$220,000 USD, plus potential annual performance-based incentive and benefits.

hirify.global is building a technology-led, full-stack provider of customized small business insurance across the United States.

What you will do

• Own Payments & Partnerships features from inception and design through coding, testing, and production deployment.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, and frontend engineering teams to iterate on the insurance product and solve technical challenges.
• Develop clean, testable backend code and deploy frequently through the CI/CD pipeline.
• Work with server-side Kotlin and modern backend technologies in cloud-based environments.
• Use AI and LLM-powered tools to improve developer productivity and experimentation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend development experience.
• Professional experience with Java, Kotlin, or similar languages such as Python or .NET.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with highly distributed, cloud-based environments; AWS experience is relevant.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, adaptable problem-solving, and effective communication.
