Sr. Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

Location: New York City office; hybrid position with four days per week in-office. No required office days during the summer and winter holidays.

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 annual base salary, plus possible company incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Build, scale, and maintain backend software for the Broker Dealer platform.
• Develop technology that securely moves millions of dollars and processes transactions through complex risk checks.
• Address backend scaling, software design, system optimization, stability, performance, and security challenges.
• Balance delivery of new platform features with system reliability and scale.
• Lead projects spanning one or more teams and support on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Mentor and help grow other engineers while collaborating in small cross-functional groups.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience with at least one object-oriented programming language.
• Experience writing Java code.
• 5+ years of professional experience with SQL and relational databases, including schema design and detailed SQL queries.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components.
