Backend Engineer / (Core Banking & Product Features)

Location: Hybrid workstyle with office attendance required according to organizational guidelines and team objectives.

What you will do

• Develop and operate Java/Kotlin backend applications for core banking systems.
• Design and build reliable financial platform components with a balance of performance and stability.
• Design application architecture based on requirements and select appropriate middleware.
• Use infrastructure capabilities to solve system-level challenges.
• Tune microservices performance, configure monitoring, and respond to alerts.
• Contribute to a full-scratch banking system renewal, from planning and design through implementation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend development experience.
• Practical Java experience and strong skills in other common programming languages.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming fundamentals.
• Experience designing schemas for relational or NoSQL databases and writing efficient queries.
• Experience developing and tuning web applications with security considerations.
• Business-level conversational English is required. Professional experience using AI/LLM tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or CodeWhisperer is also required.

Nice to have

• Financial industry development experience.
• Experience implementing RESTful APIs, Pub/Sub systems, or database clients.
• AWS, microservices, and large-scale or high-transaction system development experience.
• Business-level Japanese, equivalent to native proficiency or JLPT N1/N2.
• Experience integrating AI-assisted development into system design and delivery, contributing to AI open-source projects, or automating workflows with AI.
