TL;DR
Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer-Assembly Finish & Rework (Automotive): Planning and implementing finish tools, rework equipment, production processes, and technical solutions for vehicle assembly with an accent on equipment specifications, layouts, supplier coordination, and production ramp-up. Focus on solving assembly and rework problems, optimizing equipment and processes, and coordinating technical projects through series production.

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; onsite 4–5 days per week with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electrified and digitally enabled pickup trucks and rugged SUVs, including all-electric and range-extender powertrains.

What you will do

  • Plan finish tools, rework equipment, layouts, production plans, investment plans, and work sequences for the assembly finish area.
  • Evaluate technical problems and product requirements, develop technical solutions, and define production-process and equipment KPIs.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, clarify requirements with contractors and suppliers, and support RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate implementation activities, pre-series production, production ramp-up, and the transition to series operation.
  • Analyze offers and alternative solutions while considering cost, ergonomics, quality, and production requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, operators, quality, industrial engineering, EHS, and other stakeholders on improvements and product-design implementation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and/or plant engineering.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may substitute.
  • Experience with general assembly equipment, finish tools, rework-tool selection, tool development, troubleshooting, and alignment with product requirements.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, project management, production-process planning, and collaboration with production stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in Blythewood, South Carolina 4–5 days per week and attend in-person meetings and events.

Nice to have

  • Experience with equipment planning from concept through handover to production.
  • Knowledge of P-FMEA, Poka Yoke, assembly ergonomics, office applications, web-based applications, and presenting results.
  • Understanding of interfaces with production, quality, industrial engineering, infrastructure, pilot hall, and EHS departments.
