Environmental & Sustainability Engineer, Advanced

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week at a Zebra location in Chicago, Lincolnshire, or Holtsville in the United States; Kennesaw or Austin in the United States; or Mississauga, Canada

Salary: CAD $101,040–$151,040 yearly. A separate annual pay range of $108,960–$163,440 is also listed. The role includes a target performance-based annual cash incentive equal to 12% of base pay.

What you will do

• Develop and drive sustainable solutions and circular-economy practices across the product portfolio.
• Advise product teams on sustainable materials, energy efficiency, battery longevity, repairability, and related sustainability topics.
• Lead Zebra’s Ecolabel program, including EPEAT 2.0 and Energy Star certifications.
• Establish life-cycle assessment baselines and drive improvements across products.
• Coordinate suppliers, joint design manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and engineering teams to maintain ESG compliance.
• Manage sustainability projects and programs from concept through deployment, and create communications for sales, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field plus 8+ years of engineering or program management experience in sustainability or carbon-emissions reduction; or MS plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Management experience in sustainability or carbon-emissions reduction is required.
• Experience leading medium-sized cross-functional teams and managing resources, risks, schedules, quality, and costs.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, written, oral communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and address complex or novel technical problems.
