Robotics Application Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, United States

Salary: $150K–$215K annually, plus equity.

Develops generalist intelligent robots across the full robotics stack, including hardware, robot systems, AI infrastructure, foundation world models, and manufacturing.

What you will do

• Execute customer robotics projects from scoping and solution design through onsite delivery as the primary technical contact.
• Design and prototype grippers, end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, work cells, and other mechanical solutions.
• Drive AI model post-training and deployment on robot hardware, partnering with robot pilots and data operations on robust policies.
• Build expertise in the full product stack and internal workflows to accelerate customer onboarding and inform the roadmap.
• Identify failure patterns, create reusable design standards, and contribute to shared documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in mechanical design for robotics, automation, manufacturing, or industrial systems.
• Strong CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, OnShape, or an equivalent tool.
• Experience designing grippers, tooling, fixtures, or electromechanical assemblies.
• Hands-on prototyping experience with 3D printing, machining, fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience debugging robotic systems and familiarity with AI/ML concepts applied to robotics.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic arms, humanoid systems, robot policy training, fine-tuning, or deployment.
• Experience integrating conveyors, AMRs, actuators, sensors, and other electromechanical devices.
• Experience supporting field installations and coordinating external fabrication or integration vendors.
