TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Robotics): Designing and delivering robust mechanical systems for AI-powered autonomous heavy equipment with an accent on field durability, safety, manufacturability, and mechanical-electrical integration. Focus on FEA, shock and vibration analysis, environmental sealing, prototyping, verification testing, failure analysis, and production scale-up.

Location: Seattle, United States; occasional travel to production sites and customer deployments is required.

Company

hirify.global develops AI-powered autonomous fleets by integrating software, hardware, robotics, and mission-critical infrastructure into ruggedized heavy machinery.

What you will do

  • Own the design and delivery of mechanical subsystems for autonomous dozers, excavators, and loaders, including sensor suites, compute enclosures, mounts, brackets, housings, and environmental protection systems.
  • Convert customer needs and product requirements into mechanical architectures and integration strategies across machine platforms.
  • Create production-ready CAD, detailed drawings, tolerances, inspection plans, and manufacturing documentation using SolidWorks, OnShape, or similar tools.
  • Perform mechanical analysis and FEA covering material selection, fatigue, vibration, shock, thermal performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, weight, and serviceability.
  • Prototype, test, and validate designs through ingress, vibration, shock, thermal, fit, and field testing; conduct failure analysis and corrective redesign.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, autonomy, systems, deployment, TPM, vendor, fabricator, assembly, and OEM partners while mentoring junior and mid-level mechanical engineers.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and product development.
  • Strong fundamentals in machine design, structural analysis, thermal analysis, and modeling.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, OnShape, or similar, plus component-level FEA and mechanical simulation.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, bench and field testing, environmental testing, and failure analysis.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with component and sensor vendors, assembly houses, and manufacturing partners.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing ruggedized systems for construction, mining, agriculture, or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with welded structures, steel mounting systems, fabrication-driven assemblies, environmental sealing, thermal management, vibration and shock mitigation, or fatigue engineering.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, compute integration, electromechanical assemblies, welding, machining, and metal fabrication.

Culture & Benefits

  • Opportunity to build autonomy products for heavy equipment and real-world robotics deployments.
  • End-to-end ownership across autonomy hardware and global field deployments.
  • Fast iteration, direct design reviews, rigorous validation, and a focus on durable, reliable field performance.
  • Competitive compensation, equity, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and life insurance.
  • Travel opportunities to customer jobsites across the United States and international markets.
