Software Development Engineer in Test (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Glen Cove, New York, five days per week at the robotics factory

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and own automated end-to-end and integration test suites.
• Validate features during sprints and partner with developers to resolve defects in real time.
• Hand off maintainable feature-test code to Systems Test Engineers and support its extension.
• Build software-based mocks and simulators for hardware such as grippers.
• Develop test data, reporting, and infrastructure that improve QA team efficiency.
• Review designs and pull requests for testability and promote earlier test coverage.

Requirements

• 3+ years of daily production-quality software development experience, or a strong equivalent.
• Strong skills in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or a similar language.
• Deep experience with automated test infrastructure and frameworks such as Playwright, pytest, or Jest.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and debugging networked or distributed systems.
• Strong collaboration skills, including pairing with developers and Systems Engineers.
• Ability to work on-site at the Glen Cove robotics factory five days per week.

Nice to have

• Hardware-in-the-loop or system-level testing experience.
• Experience with embedded systems or real-time applications.
• Familiarity with ROS2, Docker, or robotics software stacks.
• Robotics background.
