TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer I/II – Assembly, Integration and Test (Aerospace): Building and validating spacecraft assembly, integration, and test processes with an accent on design for manufacture, production ramp-up, and manufacturing systems. Focus on diagnosing failures, resolving root causes, improving yield, and delivering reliable factory and test capabilities.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; US office role

Base pay: $115,000–$170,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Prepare feasibility studies and conduct manufacturing technology research and development.
  • Partner with design engineering to apply design-for-manufacture principles to spacecraft products.
  • Design, procure, install, validate, and verify assembly and test processes for manufacturing facilities.
  • Support development builds, production ramp-up, and production-line engineering ownership.
  • Investigate failures, determine root causes, implement risk mitigation, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Drive process, change-management, yield, and manufacturing-system improvements across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience for Senior Engineer I, or 8+ years for Senior Engineer II.
  • Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of complex systems.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment used in assembly and integration.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA, and PLM systems.
  • For US office work, eligibility under applicable ITAR requirements is required, including US citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
  • Aerospace experience with launch vehicles or spacecraft.
  • Experience with composite materials, manufacturing automation, robotics, or environmental testing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and strong problem-solving skills.
