TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer I (Aerospace): Supporting process development, documentation, assembly operations, and quality compliance for DACS electromechanical assemblies and solid rocket motor manufacturing with an accent on manufacturability, tooling, process control, and configuration traceability. Focus on developing work instructions, investigating manufacturing non-conformances, improving processes, and providing hands-on support across Folsom and Reno operations.

Location: Folsom, California, with regular travel to Reno, Nevada; approximately 20–30% travel required. Applicants must be U.S. Persons and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 USD per year, base salary.

What you will do

  • Support manufacturing process development for DACS electromechanical assemblies and energetic solid rocket motor operations.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, assembly travelers, process specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, production readiness reviews, and program milestones.
  • Support tooling requirements, receiving inspection, and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitor process variables, analyze manufacturing data, and escalate deviations from process controls.
  • Support root cause and corrective action investigations, process improvements, configuration management, and documentation traceability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline, with 0–2 years of experience or relevant internship/co-op experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical assembly, precision hardware, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation, including work instructions, process summaries, and engineering reports.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent CAD viewing tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, independent working, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, eligible for required export authorizations, and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Must be willing to work in secure or classified environments and near energetic materials under safety protocols.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, solid rocket motor manufacturing, propulsion systems, or energetic materials.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, lean manufacturing, and root cause analysis methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, or 8D.
