Virtualization Systems Administrator

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, United States. Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere/ESXi or equivalent virtualization platforms for IT and OT workloads.
• Administer virtual machine environments, including resource allocation, templates, snapshots, clusters, high availability, disaster recovery, storage, and capacity planning.
• Define and document OT/IT integrations, including MES-to-ERP data flows, historian feeds, APIs, access controls, and logging.
• Administer MES servers and supporting infrastructure through patching, health monitoring, backups, production support, and vendor coordination.
• Manage Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, file services, and endpoint infrastructure.
• Maintain documentation, configuration baselines, SOPs, and cross-functional infrastructure improvements with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of systems administration experience, including at least 1 year focused on production virtualization platforms.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, VM templates, clusters, vMotion, and storage configurations.
• Experience with MES, historian, or SCADA-adjacent server environments and OT uptime, patching, and vendor-support requirements.
• Working knowledge of NIST 800-171 control families and CMMC practices for server and virtualization infrastructure.
• Windows Server administration skills, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services; experience with federal contractors, DoD programs, CUI, or ITAR/EAR environments is relevant.
• Must be a U.S. Person. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, perform physical server and rack work, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Manufacturing, defense, or government-regulated environment experience.
• Experience supporting or preparing for CMMC assessments.
• Linux administration experience.
• VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent certification.
