Network Virtualization Engineer/Administrator (VMware NSX)

Location: On-site at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Remote/telework is not available. Core duty hours are 09:00–15:00 Monday–Friday, with occasional off-shift, extended, or weekend support. Travel of up to 10% may be required for local customer and project support. No relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and directly related certifications.

What you will do

• Support network buildout and deployments for the C2BMC Test Facility and Missile Defense Agency customer.
• Administer and troubleshoot VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure, including vSphere, NSX, and vSAN.
• Perform system monitoring, backups and restoration, application upgrades, patching, remediation, and audit-log reviews.
• Conduct root-cause analysis, break/fix activities, vulnerability remediation, and DoD compliance improvements.
• Deploy virtual machines, migrate workloads to VMware Cloud Foundation, and document system changes.
• Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators while briefing customers and management.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of full-time general work experience and 5 years of directly related network or virtualization experience.
• At least 1 year of management or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Internet protocols, firewall configuration and troubleshooting, and telecommunications network infrastructures.
• Deep understanding of vSphere, NSX, vSAN, SDDC Manager, logical routing, distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing, and micro-segmentation.
• Experience designing, installing, upgrading, and migrating VMware vSAN storage and virtual machines between vSphere versions and VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Active DoW Secret Security Clearance and current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with multicast, type I encryption devices, VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, RHEL Ansible, HPE servers, and virtual distributed switches.
• VMware VCTA, VCP-DCV, VCAP, or VCDX-DCV certification.
• CCNA or JNCIA certification.
• Python or PowerShell scripting experience.
• Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems, and MDIOC operations, or a related IT or engineering degree.
