TL;DR
Software Engineer (Python/Rust/Go, energy infrastructure): Building real-time telemetry pipelines and production-grade control systems that connect AI data centers with power infrastructure, with an accent on high-frequency data ingestion, IT/OT integration, and safe workload control. Focus on designing fault-tolerant edge-to-cloud systems, handling degraded network states, and optimizing compute workloads against grid and infrastructure conditions.
Location: On-site in the Bay Area, Boston, or Washington D.C.; one work-from-home day per week

What you will do
- Build software modules connecting data centers, industrial power systems, and the electrical grid.
- Architect telemetry ingestion pipelines for high-frequency data from power meters, PDUs, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, and compute hardware.
- Design fault-tolerant integration layers between cloud and industrial systems, including protocol translation and data-model mapping.
- Develop safe, reliable control and optimization logic for real-world energy assets and critical facilities.
- Deliver end-to-end solutions from edge devices to the control plane and own projects from architecture through production.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or Rust, Go, or C/C++.
- Experience building telemetry ingestion pipelines or distributed systems handling high-volume time-series data.
- Hands-on experience with asynchronous messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Exposure to IT or OT systems such as SCADA, EMS, BMS, or DCIM.
- Direct experience with industrial telemetry protocols including Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, OPC-UA, BACnet, or SNMP.
Nice to have
- Experience with time-series databases or industrial historian platforms.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, or HPC scheduling in data centers.
- Background in power systems, energy markets, microgrids, or data center infrastructure.
- Experience with control-system patterns, edge runtimes, optimization algorithms, or energy-management strategies.
