Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Location: San Francisco, US; in-office four days per week in the SF Mission District

hirify.global develops the open-source Daft data engine for querying and processing multimodal data at production scale for AI applications.

What you will do

• Design and scale resilient backend services and distributed data systems.
• Collaborate with product and customer-facing teams to define requirements and ship customer-facing features.
• Orchestrate compute workloads and container infrastructure across cloud environments using Kubernetes and Slurm.
• Build high-performance data applications, query tools, and data visualization platforms.
• Optimize cloud storage architectures and system pipelines for throughput, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

• Strong coding and architectural fundamentals in Rust, C++, Python, or Go.
• Ability to work with lower-level primitives when performance and efficiency require it.
• Autonomous problem-solving skills and the ability to scope and solve difficult technical challenges.
• Technical expertise in at least one relevant area: ML/AI platforms, search and recommendations, computer vision, computer graphics, data services, large-scale batch or streaming jobs, storage infrastructure, or GPU management and orchestration.
• Willingness to work in person four days per week in the San Francisco office.
