Core Backend Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, operate, and maintain backend services and data pipelines powering production AI products.
• Build scalable infrastructure for ML experiment tracking, artifact management, model registries, and automated training and evaluation.
• Engineer highly available, fault-tolerant systems with deep observability for demanding enterprise and government SLAs.
• Design modular architectures and clean REST and gRPC APIs while optimizing latency, throughput, and cloud compute costs.
• Partner with engineering, product, and ML research teams to create shared platform capabilities and reduce product delivery bottlenecks.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building and scaling production backend services or platforms.
• Strong experience with languages common in AI and data systems, such as Python, Go, Rust, or C++.
• Deep understanding of consistency, availability, distributed failure modes, and idempotency.
• Experience owning production services, designing for observability, and participating in on-call responsibilities.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical designs and production-ready systems.
• Strong focus on maintainable, well-documented APIs and shared platforms.

Nice to have

• Experience with MLflow, Weights & Biases, ClearML, Ray, Flyte, or Kubeflow.
• Experience designing high-throughput data pipelines and resilient asynchronous workflows with Temporal, Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
• Experience with SOC 2, FedRAMP, highly regulated, air-gapped, or on-premise environments.
