Field Deployment Lead (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own site preparation, robot installation, system integration, commissioning, and SAT sign-off for European industrial partner sites.
• Coordinate deployment timelines, site-specific dependencies, risks, configurations, and integration decisions with European Application Engineering and HQ Engineering.
• Build and maintain operational runbooks covering error response, escalation, consumables, shift handovers, spare parts, and site adaptations.
• Train contract operators, manage the local Tier 2 service partner, and establish service scopes, SLAs, training, and callout procedures.
• Capture failure modes, edge cases, and near-misses and provide structured feedback to Application Engineering and HQ Engineering.
• Perform preventative maintenance, coordinate software and firmware updates, and cover the day shift during the initial production ramp before transitioning to multi-site supervision.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial robotics, industrial software deployment, commissioning, or field engineering.
• Hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and industrial wiring.
• Experience with FAT/SAT processes, commissioning robotic or automation systems, training operators, and managing contractors or external service partners.
• Linux command-line proficiency, ability to read Python and shell scripts, and basic Docker operations; ROS or ROS2 experience or willingness to learn ROS2 quickly.
• Professional German and English are both required. A valid driver’s licence is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying robots at automotive primes or Tier-1 suppliers.
• Familiarity with ISO 10218, EN ISO 13849, or TS 15066.
• Experience with Flexiv Rizon arms, ZED cameras, or comparable industrial robot platforms.
• Experience maintaining operational SOPs, field playbooks, and multi-site field operations.
