Member of Technical Staff (Rust, Search & Database Engines)

What you will do

• Design and build high-performance database engine features for the Spice.ai open-source project.
• Contribute to Apache DataFusion, Apache Ballista, Arrow, Iceberg, Vortex, and duckdb-rs integrations and capabilities.
• Design and build features for the Spice.ai Cloud Platform.
• Own initiatives that improve the product and developer experience.
• Work directly with enterprise customers to support their use cases.
• Lead technical strategy and feature development alongside the founders.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional Rust experience or 5+ years of professional C/C++ experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, scaling, and shipping production database engines, distributed systems, or data systems.
• Strong design, architecture, engineering, and product decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Passion for high performance, open-source development, and database internals.
• Experience with Apache infrastructure, CNCF stack, or cloud-native development is valuable.
