Senior Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: New York, New York, USA; hybrid workplace.

Salary: $192,000–$240,000 USD per year, plus equity and potential variable compensation.

What you will do

• Build critical streaming technologies used by dozens of internal teams and hundreds of services.
• Architect resilient interactions between Rust client libraries and the streaming platform control plane.
• Optimize high-throughput, low-level streaming libraries for performance and efficiency.
• Support internal users through documentation, troubleshooting, and developer-experience improvements.
• Lead high-impact technical projects with end-to-end accountability for delivery and quality.
• Collaborate with partner teams and mentor junior engineers and interns.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in low-level programming languages, ideally Rust.
• Experience with performance optimization and debugging complex systems.
• Ability to gather stakeholder requirements, communicate complex ideas, and lead technical initiatives.
• Commitment to developer experience, collaboration, and blameless engineering practices.
• Ability to work in a hybrid workplace in New York, New York, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience operating or using large-scale streaming systems such as Kafka.
• Familiarity with language bindings and foreign function interfaces.
• Curiosity about AI and experience leveraging it in development workflows.
