TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (AI): Building and operating large-scale full-text indexing systems for AI agents with an accent on information retrieval, distributed systems, and performance tuning. Focus on designing searchable structures, optimizing query latency, and ensuring infrastructure scalability for millions of users.

Location: Must be based in San Francisco or Palo Alto (On-site)

Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

Build and operate systems for a large-scale full-text index over the web.
Decide corpus content and build searchable structures.
Develop signals and models to judge source quality and freshness.
Serve queries against the index with high speed and economic efficiency.
Anticipate bottlenecks and evolve architecture to meet increasing demand.

Requirements

Deep intuition on information retrieval and distributed systems.
Strong experience with performance tuning.
Ability to reason about trade-offs between classical and neural retrieval.
Must be able to work fully in-person in San Francisco or Palo Alto.
Visa sponsorship is available.
