Field Engineer (Robotics)

Location: USA remote and travel; hybrid, travel-based position with up to 80% travel. Work is performed primarily at customer installation sites, with the main office in Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Salary: $101,000–$138,600 base annual compensation in the posted location.

What you will do

• Lead on-site automation, controls, and adapter-cell installation from mobilization through commissioning readiness.
• Coordinate electricians, controls technicians, commissioning resources, and third-party contractors to deliver safe, high-quality work on schedule.
• Own cell-level readiness, field verification, performance testing, defect resolution, and documentation for commissioning handoff.
• Act as the field authority for the automation installation scope and make real-time decisions when site conditions or schedules change.
• Identify, escalate, and resolve installation risks affecting schedule, quality, and cost, including field changes, rework, and resource tradeoffs.
• Lead kickoff meetings, progress reviews, recovery plans, and lessons-learned activities in partnership with project management, engineering, safety, and commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of trade experience in electrical installation, automation installation, industrial automation, robotics/ASRS, or large-scale capital equipment installations.
• Demonstrated ownership of live, site-level installations beyond participation or coordination.
• Experience leading electrical, controls, commissioning, and third-party installation teams.
• Ability to diagnose design, process, and execution issues, make decisions under pressure, and hold teams accountable.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car or air to customer locations; work involves construction sites, PPE, heights up to 45 feet, restrictive areas, stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
