Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid

Salary: £70,000–£85,000 per year. Part-time applications may also be considered.

hirify.global develops quantum error-correction technology and partners with quantum hardware providers and government agencies to advance fault-tolerant quantum computing.

What you will do

  • Develop and improve classical simulation tools for fault-tolerant quantum computing and quantum error correction.
  • Research efficient simulation techniques for Clifford and near-Clifford quantum circuits.
  • Design and run numerical studies covering logical operations, decoder performance, error channels, and fault-tolerant protocols.
  • Write code to test scientific ideas and contribute to software-focused research outputs and products.
  • Publish research, review literature, participate in journal clubs, and present findings at conferences.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-disciplinary projects and collaborate with QEC teams, industry partners, and academic researchers.

Requirements

  • PhD with strong academic performance in physics, theoretical chemistry, mathematics, computer science, or another mathematically focused discipline.
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technical topics across quantum error correction and quantum algorithms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate progress clearly, and contribute to technical problem-solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with quantum simulations, especially stabilizer tableau simulations and related techniques.
  • Experience designing and running numerical simulations.
  • Research experience in quantum error correction in academia or industry.
