Software Engineer - Open Source (Quantum Computing)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid work

Salary: £64,000–£76,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Build components of internal and external software stacks for error-corrected quantum computing systems.
• Design and develop productivity tools for representing and debugging quantum programs.
• Design and implement components of the quantum error correction compiler stack.
• Work with scientists and engineers to deliver practical, scalable solutions.
• Write correct, maintainable software and contribute actively to the Deltakit open-source community.

Requirements

• Strong technical foundation in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and experience building efficient, high-quality software.
• Good understanding of software stacks and ability to deliver work to deadlines.
• Interest in quantum computing, complex technical problems, open-source, and user-focused software development.
• Clear communication and experience collaborating across diverse groups.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive approach in a fast-moving environment.
