Lead Precision Cleaning Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $135,000–$165,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and lead the Precision Cleaning team and establish the department roadmap.
• Develop standardized precision cleaning processes, work instructions, SOPs, equipment specifications, test plans, and qualification reports.
• Implement cleaning equipment, tooling, chemicals, fixtures, and facility infrastructure for scalable aerospace manufacturing.
• Create training programs, competency matrices, and certification requirements for technicians and engineers.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Design, and EHS to ensure hardware meets design intent and safety requirements.
• Drive contamination control, FOD mitigation, cleaning validation, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in precision cleaning, contamination control, or related manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining precision cleaning processes for aerospace materials, components, and hardware.
• Experience or knowledge in chemical cleaning, material compatibility, reaction mechanisms, particulate control, molecular contamination, and FOD prevention.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, space, defense, semiconductor, or other high-reliability industries.
• Experience with particle count and non-volatile residue cleaning validation.
• Experience with automated, semi-automated, or manual precision cleaning of aerospace hardware.
• Strong understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Data analysis, technical writing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
