What you will do
- Lead advanced thermodynamic, fluid-dynamic, and metallurgical investigations into critical fleet incidents.
- Convert forensic findings into corrective actions, engineering change orders, and fleet-wide reliability requirements.
- Review construction drawings, contracts, equipment specifications, and operational standards.
- Conduct programmatic audits of active data center sites for compliance with runbooks, operating conditions, and maintenance standards.
- Design physical tests in the Advanced Cooling Lab and integrate mechanical failure data into a high-fidelity system simulator.
- Advise senior leadership and cross-functional executives on mechanical vulnerabilities and strategic reliability initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of advanced mechanical industry experience, or an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6+ years of experience.
- Experience with hyperscale data center infrastructure, complex hydronic loops, and large-scale chiller plants.
- Expert knowledge of critical system design, operations, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of data center cooling technologies, including CDUs, CRAHs, CRACs, AHUs, chillers, and related equipment.
- Ability to analyze sequences of operations, design parameters, alarms, and performance trends to identify systemic architectural flaws.
- Ability to create engineering standards and programs that transform local site knowledge into fleet-wide operational policy.
