Lead Mechanical Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: On-site in Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA

Salary: $194,000–$237,000 annual base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Lead mechanical engineering for R&D projects involving cooling, piping, and mechanical plants.
• Design mechanical systems for modular units and behind-the-meter infrastructure.
• Own released, revision-controlled mechanical reference designs through megawatt scale.
• Set technical standards by checking calculations, enforcing requirements, and reviewing vendor packages.
• Qualify major mechanical equipment with vendors and balance innovation with delivery schedules.
• Hire, mentor, and delegate while solving the most challenging mechanical engineering problems.

Requirements

• Experience leading mechanical design for data centers, power plants, or heavy industrial systems.
• Experience releasing mechanical packages that were built at scale.
• Ability to personally check calculations and identify issues in engineering work.
• Experience qualifying major mechanical equipment with vendors.
• Ability to balance technical innovation with schedules and execution.

Nice to have

• Depth in liquid cooling and chilled-water plants.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with modular construction.
