Senior Mechanical Engineer I (Robotics)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global’s Austin, Texas, United States HQ campus; occasional travel of less than 5% may be required.

hirify.global develops large-format robotic 3D printing construction systems, including the next-generation Titan platform.

What you will do

• Design, analyze, and implement complex mechanical assemblies, systems, and specialized tooling for robotic 3D printing construction equipment.
• Perform structural, thermal, and kinematic analyses using hand calculations, FEA, and CFD.
• Create 3D CAD models, ASME Y14.5-compliant 2D drawings, bills of materials, and technical data packages in PDM/PLM systems.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with industrial design, manufacturing, reliability, software, supply chain, and field operations.
• Support prototyping, manufacturing, assembly troubleshooting, verification and validation, field deployment, and root cause analysis.
• Manage design risks with FMEA, qualify COTS components, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design and product development experience, preferably with robotics, automation, heavy equipment, or large machinery.
• Advanced 3D CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks, plus experience with PDM/PLM systems.
• Experience with structural FEA, thermal CFD, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of material selection and fabrication methods including welding, machining, casting, sheet metal, CNC machining, and 3D printing.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally and work in an office and engineering shop/lab environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with drive trains, gearboxes, linear motion, structural frames, fluid handling, hydraulic systems, sensors, controls, and electrical or pneumatic integration.
• Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, or Duro.
• Experience in rapid prototyping, serial production, or harsh outdoor operating environments.
