Specialist, Underbody - Pilot Hall (Automotive): Supporting stable body-in-white production and vehicle launches for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on underbody quality, containment actions, and cross-functional production integration. Focus on identifying bottlenecks, applying DFMEA/PFMEA and control plans, analyzing metrology data, and coordinating pilot-hall builds and team training.
Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel
Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus

What you will do
- Support body production teams in achieving stable production goals and resolving equipment, communication, and process issues.
- Implement short- and long-term containment actions for design deviations and part-quality issues.
- Collaborate with body production, maintenance, and other departments to integrate operations and reduce production delays.
- Analyze product launches, identify bottlenecks, and improve production flow and processes.
- Coordinate special build events in the Pilot Hall body team and provide training, technical guidance, and instruction.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings and identify improvement opportunities using current body-production and maintenance practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and stable production processes.
- 5+ years of BIW experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably focused on underbody production.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- High proficiency with DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans.
- Knowledge of metrology equipment and measurement-report utilization, including the use of shims, fixtures, jigs, and equipment to meet manufacturing quality requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, 8D problem-solving, and statistical process-control skills.
