Machining Process Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid, Dearborn, Michigan, with weekly travel to Sharonville, Ohio for 12–18 months and extended travel to manufacturing plants in the United States, Canada, and/or Mexico. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $86,600–$144,900 or $99,100–$166,200 annually, depending on salary grade and experience.

What you will do

• Plan and implement new vehicle and powertrain manufacturing programs.
• Install, start up, and commission machining lines at manufacturing sites.
• Evaluate new model designs for high-volume manufacturing using virtual tools.
• Develop and maintain process sheets, cycle line layouts, tooling schedules, and manufacturing requirements.
• Lead the identification, resolution, and closure of machining, product, and tooling launch issues.
• Coordinate with product development, suppliers, logistics, and new model program teams while supporting safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
• Strong project management, communication, presentation, computer, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience reviewing 3D CAD models using Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or an equivalent tool.
• Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles.
• Ability to travel extensively, support launch programs, work some weekends, and operate under timing constraints with minimal supervision.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of statistics, control charts, data collection, and GD&T.
• Experience with hirify.global systems such as WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, and AIM.
• Automotive assembly or machining tooling, process, and facility experience.
• Experience with high-volume industrial machining systems.
