Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: New York, NY; on-site. Relocation support is available.

Salary: $260,000–$320,000 per year, plus equity and a performance bonus of up to 40%.

AI infrastructure platform for consumer packaged goods brands, unifying finance, accounting, sales, operations, deductions, and production planning in one system.

What you will do

• Directly manage 6–10 engineers through 1:1s, coaching, career development, and performance management.
• Own delivery for the team roadmap, including planning, prioritization, and removing blockers without adding unnecessary process.
• Partner with the CTO on organization design, career ladders, and management practices as engineering scales from 20 to more than 50 people.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews across Rails, TypeScript/React, and Python systems.
• Build hiring loops, recruit engineers, and develop future technical leads and managers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of direct management experience with software engineers and 5+ years as a hands-on engineer.
• Experience scaling through hyper-growth at an early-stage startup from approximately Series A/B through Series C/D or beyond.
• Strong technical depth for design reviews and collaboration with senior engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust with skeptical engineers through competence and outcomes.
• Ability to introduce lightweight processes only where they improve delivery and team effectiveness.
• Ability to work on-site in New York, NY, or relocate to the United States with provided relocation support.

Nice to have

• Experience as a team's first manager or introducing management to a previously flat organization.
• Founder, founding engineer, or early-employee experience.
• Experience growing individual contributors into managers and building a leadership bench.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript/React, or Python/ML systems.
• Experience with B2B SaaS, fintech, or data-heavy products.
