Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Salary: $260,000–$310,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Manage and grow an engineering team, including onboarding, feedback, and career development.
• Own product execution from customer scoping through shipping, measurement, and iteration.
• Review code, make architecture decisions, and contribute hands-on when projects require it.
• Establish engineering best practices and help build the engineering organization.
• Work directly with systems and requirements engineers at hardware companies.
• Shape AI product direction with engineers building agentic workflows and LLM-powered features.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing production software, including designing, testing, and operating cloud services at scale.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineers, preferably in an early-stage or low-process environment.
• Experience shipping software relied on by enterprise customers.
• Current hands-on coding experience.
• Strong direct communication and the ability to give difficult feedback.
• Comfort working in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment focused on experimentation and iteration.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or another regulated hardware domain.
• Experience with requirements, ALM, PLM, or systems engineering tools.
• Experience managing production teams building LLM-powered or agentic features.
