Engineering Manager (AI)

Salary: $183,000–$250,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own engineering execution, technical direction, delivery, quality, reliability, and velocity across product engineering.
• Define architectural principles, review critical designs, and maintain a high technical standard across the codebase.
• Build and scale the engineering function through hiring, mentorship, retention, processes, culture, and tooling.
• Partner with product, design, go-to-market, and founding leadership to align technical direction with product strategy.
• Develop AI-assisted engineering practices across coding, testing, observability, and responsible AI-integrated product development.
• Establish feedback loops for quality, reliability, team health, and engineering visibility.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, mentorship, performance management, and talent retention.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with the ability to review pull requests, architect solutions, and lead technical discussions.
• Experience shipping complex customer-facing web applications at scale under real-world constraints.
• Full-stack expertise across React, TypeScript, Node, Python, API design, data pipelines, cloud platforms, containerization, CI/CD, and observability.
• Production experience with AI-integrated or agentic software products, including LLM-integrated products, evaluation frameworks, or production AI systems.
• Ability to influence product, design, and VP/C-suite stakeholders while operating effectively in ambiguity and early-stage environments.

Nice to have

• Experience building or managing teams responsible for shipped LLM-integrated or agentic products.
• Early-stage experience at Series A or earlier, including scaling an engineering team or product.
• Experience closing 5+ senior engineering hires with measurable retention outcomes.
• Experience building internal tools, frameworks, or systems that improve engineering productivity.
