Engineering Manager - Savings & Investments (Fintech)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid with three days per week in-office (Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional day of choice). Extra remote time may be requested.

Salary: €51,000–€88,000 gross per annum

What you will do

• Lead and manage a consumer-oriented squad of 3–5 engineers.
• Coach team members through 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, and career development opportunities.
• Translate product and business goals into predictable technical roadmaps and drive end-to-end delivery.
• Improve agile workflows, remove blockers, and use delivery metrics to improve velocity and quality.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering Managers on priorities, dependencies, and engineering standards.
• Partner with Senior and Staff Engineers on architectural discussions and technical health while communicating progress, risks, and blockers to leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience and at least 2+ years managing an engineering squad in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Strong people-management, empathy, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, API design, and cloud architecture.
• Experience delivering complex features end to end using Agile methodologies and quality or velocity metrics.
• Professional English communication skills are required for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Interest in fintech and investment products, ideally within a regulated or high-trust environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS services including EC2/ECS, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, and Elasticsearch.
