Head of Engineering - Banking Alliance (m/f/x)

What you will do

• Translate company and business goals into engineering priorities, operating models, and measurable outcomes.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data leadership to shape roadmaps, challenge trade-offs, and drive execution.
• Own delivery, quality, reliability, security, and long-term sustainability across the technical ecosystem.
• Guide architectural and organisational decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and team autonomy.
• Direct, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers and senior engineers.
• Surface risks, remove obstacles, resolve conflicts, and represent the organisation in senior leadership discussions.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience leading and scaling engineering organisations, mentoring Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers, and driving staffing and organisational planning.
• Strong people-management, coaching, communication, analytical, and career-development skills.
• Hands-on software engineering background with modern backend Java or Kotlin and/or frontend React/JavaScript ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, RESTful API design, scalable cloud architectures, and reliable, secure, maintainable systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with incident management, security, resilience, and change management in a regulated environment.
• Background in financial services.
