Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for access without, or authorization to obtain, the required export authorization.
Salary: $186,000β$202,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do
- Lead, mentor, resource, and grow a team of mechanical engineers customizing spacecraft platforms for specific missions.
- Own mechanical deliverables from requirements and design through build, integration, and environmental testing.
- Contribute hands-on designs, drawings, and analyses while setting engineering quality standards.
- Translate customer needs into robust flight hardware with mission formulation and systems teams.
- Run design reviews and test readiness reviews, and own environmental test campaigns.
- Partner with avionics, systems, thermal, structural, and production teams to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Requirements
- 8+ years designing complex integrated systems operating in harsh environments, such as spacecraft, aviation, automotive, or robotics.
- 2+ years managing or technically leading engineering teams, with experience delivering hardware products to the field.
- Proficiency with CAD for medium-to-large assembly design and management; SolidWorks is preferred.
- Mastery of drawings, GD&T, BOMs, FAIs, tolerance budgets, mass budgets, and ECO/DCO processes.
- Experience managing structural and thermal analysis products and incorporating results into designs.
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience managing or mentoring spacecraft design teams.
- Experience running vibration and TVAC environmental test campaigns for satellites or launch vehicles.
- Experience with risk management, customer reviews, schedules, risk tracking, and project management.
- Experience developing early-career engineers into independent contributors.
