TL;DR
Technical Lead Power Engineer (ASIC): Designing and optimizing power delivery systems, power conversion circuits, and board-level designs for ASIC products with an accent on power integrity, component selection, and high-reliability regulation. Focus on analyzing transient response, stability, thermal performance, and system-level power issues while debugging designs with laboratory equipment.

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base salary: $160,000–$200,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop and optimize DC-DC converters, voltage regulators, power modules, buck, boost, buck-boost, and multiphase regulator circuits.
  • Design ASIC power delivery and board-level power systems, addressing voltage ripple, noise, impedance mismatches, and current distribution.
  • Perform power integrity, transient response, stability, thermal, and reliability analyses.
  • Select power components and collaborate with vendors to ensure compatibility, performance, and quality.
  • Work with firmware, mechanical, and validation engineers to integrate designs into complete systems.
  • Document specifications, schematics, and BOMs, and debug power and system-level issues using laboratory equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in power and board design engineering, particularly with ASIC or high-speed digital designs.
  • Proficiency with Cadence OrCAD and Allegro for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Strong understanding of power integrity, power component selection, and vendor collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience debugging power-related issues with oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PCIe, DDR, and USB interfaces.
  • Understanding of EMI and EMC considerations.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability, thermal management, and reliability analysis.
