TL;DR
Lead Antenna Engineer (Aerospace): Leading the design and development of spacecraft communication and GNSS antenna systems from initial analysis through prototyping, characterization, and on-orbit support with an accent on RF performance, system integration, and high-reliability space applications. Focus on designing 1–30 GHz passive and active antennas, optimizing performance under power, mass, thermal, and radiation constraints, and solving desense and radiated-performance issues through EM simulation and system-level testing.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year

Company

hirify.global Space develops in-space transportation vehicles and spacecraft services for missions beyond Low Earth Orbit, including orbital transport, constellation deployment, and precision reentry.

What you will do

  • Lead a team designing passive and active antenna systems for spacecraft communications and GNSS receivers across LEO, deep-space, and other high-reliability applications.
  • Define low-, medium-, and high-gain antenna and feed-network systems and drive designs from analysis through prototyping and characterization across 1–30 GHz.
  • Own the antenna design lifecycle, including on-orbit support, production readiness, verification, and development-process improvement.
  • Integrate antenna designs with RF front ends, PCBs, mechanical structures, brackets, and vehicle hardware.
  • Optimize antenna performance for power handling, volume, mass, radiation, and thermal constraints.
  • Analyze vehicle antenna performance, debug completed vehicles, and perform EM simulations for desense mitigation and radiated-performance improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of research or development experience in antennas.
  • Experience with 3D EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, COMSOL, or Cenos.
  • Experience analyzing antenna systems in the lab, including S-parameters, isolation, radiation patterns, and propagation effects.
  • Strong knowledge of impedance matching, S-parameters, microwave network analysis, and power handling.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in wireless communications, antenna engineering, or a related field.
  • Lead experience on spacecraft or other high-reliability antenna applications.
  • Experience with high-gain, circularly polarized antennas, RF system-level testing, and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience designing antennas for launch vehicles, satellites, or spacecraft, including desense mitigation and vehicle integration.
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment and familiarity with Earth station antenna systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with potential stock options.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Work with avionics, RF, mechanical, and vehicle engineering disciplines on spacecraft systems.

Hiring process

  • Application and resume review.
  • Introductory and technical phone interviews.
  • Onsite interview followed by an offer.
