TL;DR
Antenna Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and validating radiating structures and antenna arrays for spaceborne radar satellite payloads with an accent on electromagnetic simulation, prototyping, and environmental integration. Focus on optimizing phased arrays and beamforming, performing range and anechoic chamber testing, and solving packaging, thermal, calibration, and system-performance challenges.

Location: On-site in Redwood City, California, United States. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for ITAR-related work.

Salary: $150,000–$300,000 per year, with flexibility between salary and equity-based compensation.

Company

hirify.global designs and builds radar satellites that create high-resolution, real-time 3D maps of Earth for disaster response, infrastructure resilience, and other mission-critical applications.

What you will do

  • Design, simulate, and optimize patch antennas, microstrip arrays, and phased arrays for spaceborne radar payloads.
  • Define antenna requirements and coordinate interfaces with spacecraft and payload subsystems.
  • Perform electromagnetic simulations using HFSS, CST, ADS, and related tools.
  • Prototype, measure, and validate antenna systems in laboratories, range environments, and anechoic chambers.
  • Support antenna bring-up, integration, verification, and flight-environment testing.
  • Evaluate link budgets and system performance, and develop manufacturing and test procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of industry or research experience in antenna or RF systems engineering.
  • Experience with antenna design, simulation, and measurement tools such as HFSS, CST, ADS, and MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of transmission line theory, impedance matching, and RF system design.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or otherwise eligible for required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with LEO satellite or aerospace antenna systems.
  • Hands-on experience with phased arrays, beamforming networks, RF calibration, or over-the-air testing.
  • Familiarity with mechanical packaging, thermal constraints, EMC/EMI, RF materials, and space manufacturing constraints.
  • Exposure to software-defined radios and digital beamforming.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced, iterative engineering environment.
  • Close collaboration with RF, mechanical, thermal, systems, and production engineers.
  • Competitive compensation with high flexibility between salary and equity.
  • Work focused on building a real-time, high-resolution Earth-observation satellite constellation.

Hiring process

  • Interviews are conducted via Google Meet.
  • The typical process takes approximately 2–4 weeks from start to finish.
