Senior UI/UX Designer (Design Systems)

Location: Boise, Idaho, United States; office-based. Work from home is available on Fridays, and working from anywhere is available for three weeks per year.

What you will do

• Own the vision, roadmap, governance, and adoption of the design system across web products.
• Design and help build components, patterns, tokens, and shared libraries in Figma and production code.
• Maintain the Figma-to-Storybook workflow and ensure design, documentation, tokens, and implementation remain synchronized.
• Make the system consumable by engineers, product managers, and AI coding tools through structured specifications, documentation, and integrations.
• Define accessibility standards, validation checks, audits, and contribution guidelines for consistent output at scale.
• Mentor designers and engineers, support dense enterprise workflows, and report system health and adoption to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of product, UX, or UI design experience, including 3+ years leading or building design systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience taking a design system from Figma and tokens through shipped production code.
• Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills, with working knowledge of React or similar component frameworks.
• Experience with Figma variables and tokens, component architecture, auto layout, prototyping, Storybook, and design token pipelines.
• Proficiency with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding tools and experience making systems consumable by non-designers or AI tooling.
• Strong visual design, accessibility, communication, stakeholder management, and portfolio presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise SaaS, fintech, or data-heavy products such as dashboards, tables, reporting, and complex forms.
• Experience mentoring contributors and establishing governance, versioning, contribution, and release processes.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools such as Figma Make and Claude.
• Motion and micro-interaction design experience.
