Senior Photonic Integration Engineer (Photonics)

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional projects integrating photodiodes, lasers, and other active components on LNOI, InP, and silicon photonics platforms.
• Define and execute integration workflows from initial design through fabrication, assembly, characterization, and system bring-up.
• Establish reproducible, high-yield co-integration processes connecting PIC fabrication with active-component integration.
• Perform system-level testing and optical alignment in collaboration with electronics teams on signal readout and performance evaluation.
• Manage project schedules, risks, configuration control, action logs, suppliers, research partners, and service providers.
• Optimize assembly yield, signal-to-noise ratio, throughput, responsivity, bandwidth, and noise performance.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Physics, or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry or research experience.
• Deep knowledge of photodiode and laser physics, hybrid optoelectronic integration, and TIA/driver design and characterization.
• Hands-on experience with PIC fabrication, including photolithography, etching, deposition, and wafer-level process development.
• Experience with PIC testing, optical alignment, and system bring-up.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating external partners.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with LNOI, InP, or silicon photonics platforms.
• Knowledge of German or another European language.
