What you will do

  • Own the photonics technology roadmap, including milestones, go/no-go criteria, risk registers, cost models, and competitive analysis.
  • Lead the design, simulation, characterization, physical layout, verification, and tape-out of photonic integrated circuits and components.
  • Develop integration pathways for silicon photonics, single-photon sources, HZO ferroelectric layers, metal-oxide layers, and FEOL/BEOL process modules.
  • Build optical test and characterization methods from wafer-level testing through packaged sub-assemblies, with manufacturing-readiness criteria.
  • Establish simulation, compact-model, and Verilog-A workflows for system-level electronic-photonic co-simulation and power, latency, and bandwidth analysis.
  • Collaborate with device, electronics, packaging, test, foundry, MPW, and academic partners, later building a specialist photonics team.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field focused on photonics, quantum optics, or integrated photonic devices.
  • Experimental quantum photonics R&D experience covering photonic device or circuit design, fabrication liaison, and characterization.
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS FEOL/BEOL process flows, semiconductor fabrication, analog circuit layout, silicon photonics constraints, and advanced sub-micron device physics.
  • Experience moving research-stage photonic technologies toward scalable, manufacturable hardware.
  • Programming and modelling experience with C++, Python, SKILL, TCL, HDL, MATLAB, or equivalent; familiarity with Lumerical, COMSOL, MEEP, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso and verification suites such as Calibre, Hercules, ICV, Dracula, or PrimeYield, plus technology-roadmap planning.
