Senior Hands-on Engineer (Photonics)

Building photonics infrastructure for AI supercomputing, including optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines.

What you will do

• Define characterization strategies for electro-optic, opto-electronic, and optical-optical devices and PICs at chip and wafer level.
• Architect high-speed measurements, including bandwidth, BER, and eye-diagram testing.
• Build and scale LabVIEW and/or Python test automation frameworks and measurement routines.
• Lead wafer probing, optical alignment, fiber handling, and test setup bring-up.
• Drive root-cause analysis, data analysis, die sorting, and yield improvement initiatives.
• Transition R&D test flows into production and mentor junior test engineers while collaborating with design, process, and product teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep hands-on expertise in photonics device testing and optical laboratory work.
• Expertise with VNA, oscilloscope, and BERT measurement equipment, plus a strong understanding of optical communication systems.
• Advanced proficiency in LabVIEW and/or Python, including test automation framework architecture, and proficiency with VISA/SCPI instrument control.
• Extensive experience with optical alignment, fiber handling, wafer probing, and designing scalable lab test infrastructure.
