Tech Lead, Mobile Core Network Engineering (AI)

Salary: $148,700–$298,800 per year for the San Francisco / Bay Area; other United States salary bands apply based on location.

What you will do

• Own the health, performance, capacity planning, and evolution of the AWS-hosted mobile core, including HSS, PGW, PCRF, and related functions.
• Act as the primary technical interface with the mobile core vendor’s Managed Services team and carrier partners.
• Review vendor changes and architecture, manage software upgrades, coordinate rollout windows, and enforce SLA accountability.
• Design AI-driven operational tooling for performance analysis, automated diagnostics, and faster root cause analysis.
• Lead incident response and on-call activities, conduct post-mortems, and implement reliability improvements.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship while coordinating roadmap priorities across product, engineering, operations, and vendors.

Requirements

• 7+ years operating highly available production infrastructure in the cloud, preferably AWS.
• Background in Site Reliability, Infrastructure, Platform, or Network Engineering.
• Strong networking fundamentals and production troubleshooting across routing, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience managing external vendors and leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience and familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience owning production incident response and participating in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Programming or scripting experience with Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with carrier, telecom, networking, or mobile infrastructure.
• Experience operating mobile core platforms at scale or working with 3GPP technologies.
